What? No toys under the Xmas tree? Riots at the local Toys’R'Us? That could very well happen for the upcoming 2007 Xmas season. Apparently Chinese authorities have been so traumatised by recent recall actuons from Mattel and others that they are holding at dock shipping containers filled with perfectly good toys, waiting for an additional round of inspection.
That sounds like a positive step, but it trickles down to a backlog that will affect what will be on the shelves in two months, and might create a shopping madness.
So what is going to be under your Christmas tree? Toys with lead… or no toys?
